Here you’ll discover key halachic issues found in any home garden:
Buying new saplings? Look for a tag showing the tree is from a supervised nursery — it also tells you when the orlah years end.
Planting different species? Leave 12 cm between two annual plants. No separation is needed between perennials.
What about plants growing together in one pot? Measure the distance where the stems meet the soil — leaves touching is fine! Check us: are the stem bases 12 cm apart?
Have a grapevine? Keep annual plants away from it and from under its branches.
Using herbs from the garden? Remember to separate terumot and ma’aserot and check carefully for insects.
